TOP USA SNOWBOARDING RESORTS
There are a bunch of really good snowboard resorts in the USA...My favorites are in California and Utah and Colorado...It is easy to set up snowboarding travel trips to these states...
Today I will be traveling myself and I am headed east...So I will start on The West coast and work east towards the East coast...
My two favorite places to snowboard in California are Mammoth mountain and in the Lake Tahoe area, my favorite is Heavenly valley ...
California has alot of other good resorts for snowboarding travel to them is easy ...
CANADA FROM WEST TO EAST
Well Canada for me is the place I have had some real good days, a few UNFORGETTABLE DAYS!!! and some not so good days...
For me it has been always affordable and a convenient place to snowboard and a wonderful place to start your snowboarding travel experience...
The people are super friendly and laid back...I also enjoy canadian attitudes related to society and have fond memories of some of the parties I have been to there...
Starting from the west heading east the VANCOUVER area has Whistler/Blackcomb less than 2 hours away ...If you plan to stay in Vancouver a day or two, head on up to
Grouse mountain...The view from the top of the mountain of Vancouver is pretty awesome...Especially at night ...I like the feeling there too, It's cool to ride the tram up the mountain and it really feels far away from the city once you are up there , but in reality so close...
People always say..." OH I heard you went to BC! How was Whistler/Blackcomb???
Well everybody has been to Whistler and Whistler deserves it's killer reputation...
But I tend to enjoy the smaller resorts in the interior of BC better...Names to mention are Bigwhite
Silver Star ... Sunpeaks and Apex ...
I like snowboarding travel and it's to these types of resorts I like to travel to...
My favorite is Red Mountain...It is a small resort with old tired chairlifts and a old time lodge...The snow there can be real good or sometimes real shitty if it is warm...One day I was there and it rained, but when its dumping...RED has some of the best terrain and deep powder, no crowds and affordable tickets...
A bit off the snowboarding travel path, but well worth the trip...
Another favorite is Whitewater near Nelson...If you head that way DO NOT MISS AINSWORTH HOTSPRINGS it is a killer place to end your snowboarding day...Moving even farther east another place I have had good times at is KICKING HORSE near Golden...Some of the most affordable package deals can be had here by staying in Golden and making the short drive up to the resort ...More info on this resort soon... Near Banff which is technically central Canada you have...a bunch of really good resorts like Lake Louise and
Canada also hosts some of the best Backcountry snowboarding anywhere...There are a number of tours and guides available to do all kinds of backcountry cruises...You can be sure to find some links here for snowboarding travel agents that can hook you up...
Canada also has the largest number of Cat-snow ski/boarding operations and Heli- snow ski/boardings outfits than probably any other country...
I think alot has to do with the Canadian attitude about snowsports and to use the resources they have responsibly and still use them to the maximum for the people to enjoy...

WHAT ABOUT ALASKA?
Well the truth is I have never been to Alaska, but I want to go...Some of my friends have been and they all said killer times to be had there...I will be asking them about their adventures and do some research of my own and will report back here soon...I tried to get there last winter but I couldn'tfind a good snowboarding travel agent or company that specializes in Alaska, I plan to look again soon...PROMISE!!!!!!
JAPAN... LAND OF THE RISING SUN
Until a couple years ago...I had no idea Japan had any good snowboarding areas and it is because of the stereotyped images I had about Japan resorts as EXPENSIVE AND CROWDED AND ALL GROOMED RUNS with lots of flashy dressed people cruising the runs...
Well I found out that although that was TRUE to some extent around Tokyo it is not true for the rest of Japan...
I did not know that Japan has almost 600 Ski areas...Yah man 600 ...OK some of them are only one chairlift MOM and POP operations, but some are ultra-modern and have low crowds and reasonable prices...The smallest sometimes are the best and have good cheap prices on tickets and offer no frills snowboarding for the locals...The smallest one I can think of is in NIKKI in Hokkaido...It is on the way to NISEKO...It has only one chairlift, it is never crowded if there are 20 people, thats crowded...But never much powder either...
HOKKAIDO is my home turf and since Hokkaido has hundreds of resorts it's gonna take me years to get to all of them...I have my favorites here but I AM NOT READY TO TELL YOU YET!!! SOON....I PROMISE! I will say this Japan has a number of good snowboarding travel companies that can hook you up with a good trip or package...
RUSSIA, CHINA and FORMER RUSSIA TERRITORIES
Lots of good stories coming out of these areas....More on these places later too...Same deal I have a new connection for snowboarding travel in RUSSIA.. China is also building ski resorts...Tell you soon what I learn...
SOUTH AMERICA
South America has killer snowboarding too.The best part is their season starts when the northern hemisphere season ends...
I will be covering resorts like LAS LENAS and other resorts in Argentina , resorts in Chile and Peru also...

DOWN UNDER...AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
The same scene for these places.Their season starts when the northern hemisphere snow season ends...Australia has some good resorts although catching good snow can be tricky there...Aussie has a reputation lately as a feast or famine area...When it's good... it's really good, but when it's a drought year it ain't very good...We can still find some happening places there though and some fun times...Lots of snowboarding travel companies can be found for Australia...
New Zealand also has some killer places to snowboard and many of the snowbirds migrate and flock here every summer to hang out and catch the pow...We will be looking at lots of places in New Zealand and what makes it one of the most special places to snowboard in the world...SAME DEAL I PROMISE to have lots of info and links to the best DOWN UNDER snowboarding travel companies and operations...
EUROPE...EUROPE AND EUROPE Some of the oldest, largest and challenging places to snowboard are here or in the vicinity...So many to Discuss and so little time...Lots of snowboarding travel outfits, should be easy to hook up a trip there...
SOME OTHER EXOTIC PLACES
I will hunt down a few other places that usually get left out of most of the major websites about snowboarding and snowboarding travel...I love to check out places and travel to them and meet new people and try new foods and have exciting experiences...So look here soon for a few off the beaten track...
